Su Hui-Yu | La Saga Total at MAMBO Bogotá

October 23, 2025 – February 15, 2026

La Saga Total is the first solo exhibition in Latin America by renowned Taiwanese multimedia artist Su Hui-Yu, conceived especially for the Museum of Modern Art in Bogotá (MAMBO). Su Hui-Yu explores the tensions between memory, identity and technology through immersive installations that fuse archive, fiction and performance. His practice focuses on the concept of ‘re-filming,’ an aesthetic strategy that reinterprets historical materials to revisit taboos, misunderstood events, and cultural narratives in Taiwan.

Su Hui-Yu transforms the museum into a film studio during the first three days of the exhibition, incorporating her new material into an ongoing film project. With a hyper-saturated, baroque and psychedelic aesthetic, La Saga Total turns visitors into active participants in a universe where mass media becomes a tool for reimagining collective memory:

Su's film project, entitled ‘A Continuing Story,’ revolves around the creation of history and narrative: revisiting collective memory and opening the door to new imaginations. It starts from a central question: in this monumentalist history, who is included and who has been left out? How can the story be told in its entirety?

In addition to the new works The Total Story and The Trio Hall, this exhibition also includes Su Hui-Yu's previous and recent series: The Space Warriors and the Digigrave (2023/2025), The Women's Revenge (2020), The Walker (2017), and Life, Pleasure, and the Reading Room (2017).

The exhibition has been curated by Eugenio Viola. It is organised in collaboration with MoCA Taipei and will continue its tour at the Vargas Museum in Manila, Philippines.
