Sanctus Duo Unitatis: Performance by L. A. Raeven

16 January 2026
Overview
19:00 to 21:00
Why does it make us so uncomfortable to see a conjoined twin? In this performance, L. A. Raeven explore this tension in embodying a creature that refers both to the divine and to the horror. This performance expresses ‘the concept of the self’ that the artist duo is exploring in their eponymous exhibition at the gallery. Through their work, L. A. Raeven inquires into the boundaries between anatomy, control, identity, vulnerability, and resistance. At the same time, they seek to critique  But also wants to criticise  individualism in society and show a possibility of collectivism in the two-unity of twins, a unity that they approach as holy.

This performance precedes the opening of Salon Amsterdam, an initiative by a group of Amsterdam galleries presenting archival work for four weeks across the city. The first focus of Salon Amsterdam in the gallery will be with L. A. Raeven, from January 17 to 24.
